Best grown in moist, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerates some shade, but best flowering and foliage color occur in full sun.
When finished blooming, the foliage will keep changing colors. Plant bulbs in spring.
Not reliably winter hardy, bulbs should be planted in a protected location, such as on the south side of a home or garage, with application of a thick winter mulch. Bulbs may be lifted in fall and overwintered indoors in pots.
